N O A H ’ S A R K
Hand-crafted using high-quality birch plywood from sustainable sources, the ark is assembled in the workshop and painted by the artist. Measuring 85 cm (33½ in) in length and 75 cm (29½ in) in height, it is mounted on concealed castors, allowing it to be pushed to the play area, then back for storage against the wall.
The price (£950) includes the ark, the Noah family (4 figures), mattresses for the sleeping platform, and 28 pairs of animals (by noted model animal manufacturer SCHLEICH).
One side of the ark opens to reveal the interior of the hull, where a series of ramps lead up to a hatch to let the animals out on deck. The deckhouse also opens on the opposite side to allow another group of children to play with the figures.
Annie Soudain originally designed and made the ark as a gift for her grandchildren. She was subsequently commissioned to make another for their nursery school. Since then interest has grown, and arks are now available to order.
